On Those Trays
Journal Entry: Wed Apr 16, 2008, 5:09 PM
I've decided to post shiz on dA again, but only lyrics this time (that's all I write now, anyway.)
Not being submitted in the order they were written, but the order the damn songs are actually learnt and played by the rest of the troupe.
I hope "troupe" means what I want it to.
I'm including notes on the structure to each song as a form of excuse, as lyrics on there own can appear repetitive, without the musical breaks etcetera inbetween "stanzas" (get me.)
If you do leave a comment, opinions obviously welcome, but if you could try and tell me what the piece means (or what you think it means/it says to you) that'd be great, it's one of the few reasons I write, to see what meanings other people see in my work.
At the risk of sounding spiritual/retarded;
I actually find it very hard to write, and it's rare with lyrics that I can sit down and produce something. I'm very much a "when the mood takes me" man in that respect, but when I do write it is like some other being is channelling an idea through me*, and I'm just putting ink to paper.**
...so I'm never too sure what it all means myself.
Come to think of it, a fair few sets of lyrics I should be uploading soon don't actually contain a direct reference to the subject matter, so depending on what I/you guess it all to be about, the words describing the topic in question take on new meanings each time. Which I'd like to think is fun.
* I'm hoping someone who'll read this gets what I mean here... (I'm sure there're similar feelings for many other writers, or painters and musicians etc.)
** If it worked for the dudes writing the bible, it works for me.
Many thanks,
Rob

You broke me: I should have known it when I saw your eyes were blue. Eyes as cold as ice. Eyes as cold as you.
